Problems with HIV Science

The author, a family practice physician in Washington, DC, reviews the evidence that led him to the conclusion that the HIV=AIDS hypothesis is fundamentally flawed. Did you know:

• that the largest study to date of sexual transmission of HIV found that it could not be transmitted sexually, although the authors fail to mention this in their abstract?
• that the largest study of needle exchange programs found that using clean needles exclusively actually increased your risk of becoming HIV positive TEN-FOLD?

Challenging the medicalization of poverty and racist sexual stereotypes

Millions of Africans have long suffered from severe weight loss, chronic diarrhea, fever and persistent coughs. In 1985, western researchers suddenly defined this cluster of symptoms as a distinct syndrome, AIDS, and declared that it was caused by a single virus - HIV - which they alleged could be easily transmitted through sexual contact. American health officials universally accept this HIV/AIDS model to explain what used to be considered the diseases of rampant poverty in Africa. Why do so many health professionals and public health officials consider it useful or necessary to view the diseases of poverty in Africa as sexually contagious? And why did they ever believe it?

Can AZT & other anti-HIV drugs cause AIDS?

Why not test everyone for HIV?
Wide spread screening with any test runs up against the problem of positive predictive value. The current trend towards routine screening of pregnant women for "HIV" promises to be particularly disastrous.

HIV Positive? - It depends where you live.
In the U.S., Canada, most of Europe but not in England or Wales, the Western Blot test confirms ELISA HIV antibody tests. Dr. Valendar Turner explains how Western Blot HIV antibody test results can be interpreted very differently by nine different international standards. For instance it is possible for any person to be any of the following on a single test result: positive in Australia, but not in France; positive in France, but not in Australia (for different reasons); positive in Africa and not positive everywhere else in the world. A Martian might be forgiven for wondering whether wine tasting was less subjective.

What "HIV" Researchers Mean by "Isolation" and Cloning
Many scientists define isolation rather loosely as the detection of indirect phenomena in cell cultures - like reverse transcription and the presence of proteins like p24, rather than isolation of whole, infectious virus. But other scientists point out that this is not isolation - especially since none of these markers are unique to HIV and are quite common elsewhere. They state that there is no scientific reason to assume that detection of these phenomena is an indisputable indication of the presence of HIV.
